Highlandwear is dramatic. Wearing the kilt and regalia adds the “Wow” factor to every occasion, as well as being virtually obligatory at Hogmanay and Burns night.

With around a dozen tartans available, we can put together an outfit that includes most colours that are likely to be required. Some are clan tartans, but others are simply generic tartans that are very colourful and do not carry any historical significance - see our Black Spirit Black Kilt here. There is a choice of jacket styling – most choose the Prince Charlie (left) but there is an elegance to the Argyle (right) that should not be dismissed.

Wearing the kilt and the accessories, and tying the brogues, can be somewhat daunting for the first time. Providing you have the time, we would like to help you enjoy the occasion to the full by fitting it on you and showing you the best way to wear it.

Perhaps it takes a Brit to get it right? Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce certainly struggled a little with their homage to tartan dress.

The pastiche of tartan shirt over tartan skirt and plaid tights was an overkill. It needed to be broken up although, granted, this was more of a styling issue. When pulled apart there were certainly some gems. Cape coats and Seventies corduroy dresses were win-win additions to the winter wardrobe but hard to make out sometimes among the never-ending parade of kilts
